James W. "Jim" Apitz

James W. "Jim" Apitz, 83, passed away peacefully at home on April 20, 2026. Born in Akron, Ohio to William and Georgia (Smith) Apitz, he was a lifelong area resident. Jim enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, playing euchre, taking long car rides and spending time with his family, especially his grandkids and great grandkids.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Apitz; sister, Jean Reinhart. He will be sadly missed by his children, Wendy (Mark) Knotts, Wesley (Heather) Apitz; grandchildren, Megan Knotts, Katlyn (Ian) Pearson, William (Laura) Apitz; great grandchildren, Lilly, Lincoln, Liam; brothers, Will (Ruth) Apitz, Gary Apitz.

The family will have a celebration of Jim's life on Saturday, May 2, 2026 from 3 to 6 p.m. at 853 Pontius Rd in Mogadore, Ohio. Those who wish may make memorial donations in Jim's name to the Haven of Rest.
