Jacqueline "Jackie" Sue Galloway (nee Claxton) passed away at home on Monday, September 1, 2014, at the age of 66.
Jackie was born in Ayer, MA on April 16, 1948. She lived in the Hartville, OH area as a child and in the Akron/Stow area most of the rest of her life. She graduated at the top of her class from the Idabelle Firestone School of Nursing in 1984, while raising six children. Jackie worked as an RN at Akron City ER for nearly thirty years, where she touched the lives and hearts of many. She has been clean and sober since August 23, 1985, an inspiration to us all.
Preceded in death by her parents, William and Beatrice; brother, George; sister, Kathleen; and husband, Vernon. In addition to her six biological children (Jocelyn, Kenneth, Christine, Jennifer, Robert and Jade), Jackie is survived by a multitude of people who called her "Mom"; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and her brother, James and sister, Elizabeth.
Calling hours will be Monday, 2-4 p.m., at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron , with a memorial service to follow at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Akron Zoological Society.
