Jacqueline “Jackie” Joan Phifer, of Akron, Ohio, passed away on September 1, 2026, in Akron at the age of 93. She was born on December 22, 1932, in Barberton, Ohio.

Jackie graduated from Coventry High School in 1950 and went on to serve her community with faithful dedication as a clerk at the Barberton Clerk of Courts. She began her work there in August 1953 and remained in that role until her retirement in September 1986. Her years of service reflected the steady commitment and dependability that marked so much of her life.

Above all, Jackie will be remembered as a wonderful and devoted wife and mother. Her family lovingly referred to her as the “Proverbs 31 mom,” a reflection of her gentle, quiet spirit and the many ways she was always there for those she loved. She dearly loved her home and family, and that love was felt in countless daily acts of care and presence. She also found joy in life’s simple pleasures, especially cooking, reading, and bird watching.

She is survived by her loving husband of 70 1/2 years, Sidney Phifer, and by their family, who will continue to cherish her memory with deep gratitude and love. She leaves behind her daughters, Beth and Michael Strickland, and Joan and Wayne Schulz. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Tiffany and Grant Looper, Amber and Joe Bartlett, Ryan Perry, Sydney and Michael Shull, and Aaron and Diamond Schulz, 10 great-grandchildren. Jackie is further survived by her sisters, Barbara Rawdon and Pamela Barnes. Each of them carries forward the warmth, strength, and quiet faithfulness that she gave so freely throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Martha and Herbert Snyder, and by her brother, Reginald “Reggie” Snyder.

Per Jackie's wishes her family is holding a Private Celebration of Life at a later date.

Jackie’s life was one of devotion, gentleness, and enduring love. She created a home that was a place of comfort and care, and her family will hold her close in their hearts always.
