Irene Snyder

November 3, 1951 — February 20, 2014

Irene Hagemaster Snyder, wife of Lance Snyder, passed away on February 20, 2014, surrounded by her caring family.

She leaves her mother, Frances Hagemaster Lewis and devoted sister, Ann (Russell) Hagemaster Ferrell.

Irene lived a full and interesting life. Faith was her defining characteristic, and she lived that faith daily. She was a member of Arlington Memorial Baptist Church in Akron. Irene had a kind and gentle nature; a caring, loving and nurturing soul. Her love of life and sense of humor were contagious and will be missed. Irene was born in Sumatra, Indonesia, but lived most of her life in Akron. Employed for 18 years at Cuyahoga Falls Library, formerly Taylor Memorial Library, she had many friends who also enjoyed her love of reading. She earned two degrees at the University of Akron; Criminal Justice and Medical Billing and Coding.

Preceded in death by her daughter, Heather Snyder Nees.

She is survived by husband, Lance, of 30 years. Also, her aunts, Mary Tahir and Peggy Glasgow; many cousins and friends; and two dear friends, Bev and Jim Dial. A memorial service to celebrate Irene's life will be held Saturday, March 1, 11 a.m., at Arlington Memorial Baptist Church, 2330 E. Market St., with Pastor Dave Bogue officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Arlington Memorial Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.
