Homer I. Starkey Jr., 95, passed away on Monday, September 26, 2016. Jr. was born on December 26,1920 in Akron, Ohio to Homer Sr. and Frankie Starkey. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He retired from Parker Hannifin after 24 years. Jr. enjoyed playing games, cards and working puzzles with his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Virginia, Gertrude and Eloise; sons, Gary, Harley and Chuckie Sayre.
Jr is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Faye E. Starkey; sons, James (Barb), Larry (Bonnie), Roger, Danny (Alma), Tim Sayre, Danny (Lisa) Sayre; daughters, Carol Young, Barbara Smith, Patty (Randy) Moore, Cathy Sayre, Pam (Rob) Greer; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and a great-great-great granddaughter; many nieces and nephews and friends who will miss Jr. dearly.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, September 29, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd, Akron, Ohio 44305. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 30, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with an hour of visitation prior to service at Newcomer Funeral Home. Pastor Steve Salyers officiating.
Interment will take place at Northlawn Memorial Gardens.
