Hillard H. Stover, of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2026 at 91 years of age.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Patsy Jean (Stinson) Stover, his sister, Carol Sue Hambrick of Scarbro, WV, and dozens of nieces and nephews.
Hillard, known to all as “Babe” was born in Milburn, WV on August 1, 1934. Babe was one of seven children, all raised in the coal camps of Whipple, WV. In 1958, Babe, along with his bride Patsy, moved to Cuyahoga Falls.
Always an avid sports fan, Babe quickly came to love his new Ohio home teams. He became a passionate fan of the Cleveland Cavaliers, and attended countless games over the years with Patsy by his side. In his later years, Babe loved watching sports on his 65” television (which he purchased when Patsy was out of town!) while relaxing in his leather reclining chair, which he referred to as his "loge” seating.
Throughout his life, Babe enjoyed dancing, dinner theater, bowling, card games, camping at Clay’s Park Lake, and playing golf whenever he was able. After retirement, Babe worked part-time at the Spring Hills Golf Course, and made lifelong friends there, known as his "golfing buddies." He hit two hole-in-ones during his golfing years; a feat he shared often.
Babe was adored by many and will be remembered as a kind, funny, generous man and wonderful husband.
To honor Babe’s request, there be no funeral or memorial services.
He will be dearly missed.
