Herman Barry Chisnell, 77, of Akron, passed away on November 5, 2025 at his home. He was born on December 2, 1947 in Uniontown, PA to the late Enos and Mabel Chisnell. Herman was drafted into the U.S. Army and proudly served in Vietnam as a Green Beret. After his honorable discharge from the military, he spent his career making castings, retiring from Kovatch Castings in Uniontown.
Herman was a lifetime member of the Grace Cathedral in Cuyahoga Falls.
He liked playing the piano the organ, accordion, and guitar. He never learned to read music, but could play any song by ear. His loved for music and technical skills allowed him to volunteer at the church in the sound department.
He also loved to challenge family members to a game of checkers.
In addition to his parents, Herman was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sharon; three sisters and seven brothers; and grandsons, Austin Labbe and Trent Sanchez.
He is survived by his loving children, Rebecca Chisnell (Rob), Sharon Pope, Tanya Labbe (Josh), and James Chisnell; grandchildren, John, Ryan (Hailey), Crystal, Angel, Titus, and Raven; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025 from 10:30 am - 12:30 pm, immediately followed by a 12:30 pm funeral service with Rev. Steve Millar officiating at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
