Herb Stottler, 79, passed away on August 30, 2014.
A devoted labor leader and devout Democrat, he lost his battle to remain on earth with those he loved. He served as Ward 7 Council of the City of Akron during the 1970's then went on to United Steel Workers of America where he was International Staff Representative. Herb served with the US Marine Corp and was honorably discharged as a drill sergeant.
Preceded in death by his mother, Mona; brother, Bob; dear daughter, Debra Leigh; and nephew by marriage, Dave Fritz. Survivors include his loving wife of 30 years, Jan; daughters, Pam and Tonia; granddaughters, Misty, Rachel (Matt), and Chelcie; great-grandsons, Dylan and Sam; brother, John (Suzie); nephews, Brian (Jan) and Bob (Kathy); nieces, Christine (David), Kim (Terry), and Jackie; and many great-nieces and nephews. Special thanks to long-time friend, Jim Mansfield, and the Charles Faust American Legion.
Calling hours will be Sunday, 2-5 p.m., and Monday, 10:30-11:30 a.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where a funeral service will be held Monday at 11:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Charles Faust American Legion, 1601 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221.
