Henry J. Shuba

June 10, 1947 — April 24, 2025

Akron

Henry J. Shuba, 77, of Akron, passed away on April 24, 2025. He was born in Warren, Pennsylvania on June 10, 1947 to the late John and Alma Jean Shuba. Henry grew up in Cannonsburg, Pennsylvania and graduated from Cannon-McMillen High School in 1966. It was there that he caught the eye of a fellow student, Barbara Graytok. She was drawn to his great head of hair and wonderful personality. They fell in love and married on February 12, 1972. They remained a happy and loving couple for 53 years.

The Shuba family grew to include daughters Shanea and MacKenzie. While the girls were young, a job opportunity led the family to Akron, Ohio. Henry began working as a basement water proofer with Ohio State Home Services and retired after 43 years of service. He was delighted to be able to work with his grandson, Xavier towards the end of his career.

Henry was a simple man who liked the comforts of his home. When not enjoying time with family at home, he was on the golf course with his buddies or fishing on the shores of a nearby lake. He was a wonderful husband, Dad, and Pap and will be truly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Henry was preceded in death by his sister, Connie.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; daughters, Shanea Shuba (David Briers) and MacKenzie Shuba (Edward Keller); brother, Kenneth; grandchildren, Xavier Shuba, Cheyenne Shuba, and Gavin Shuba; many other relatives and friends.

Per Henry wishes, his family will celebrate his life privately.
