Listen to Obituary

Helen A. Arp transitioned suddenly to heaven on February 15, 2026, at the age of 66 years young. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, especially her family. Helen was born on November 14, 1959, in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, to Ray and Evelyn Arp. She attended Stow High School and later pursued studies in Psychology and Pre-Law at Kent State University. She dedicated her life to helping others, beginning her career as a victim advocate at the Battered Women’s Shelter and Rape Crisis Center. She later served as a judicial assistant to Judge Jane Bond before continuing her work in public service as a Senior Probation Officer for Summit County, where she made a lasting impact on countless lives. Helen was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and attended Victory Chapel in Akron and Faith Family Church in North Canton. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she encouraged everyone to pray. She loved deeply, gave generously, and never hesitated to help those in need—even strangers. She often reminded others that in serving those less fortunate, you may be serving Jesus in disguise or entertaining angels. Helen had a creative and gentle spirit. She loved creating art, sewing, caring for her houseplants, and treasure hunting for hidden gems like seashells along the shore. She cherished time with her family at the beach, where the ocean reflected her soul—deep, beautiful, and ever-moving. Her favorite colors were those of the ocean: turquoise, teal, navy blue, and the soft pink skies touched by sunshine.

She is survived by her loving children: Kimberly (Edward) Strock, Helena (Jason) Durachinsky, Sunshine (Loren) Contrascier, and Britni (JJ) Contrascier. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Michael Childs, James Kline, Noel Fuller, Samantha Kulton, Haydn Wagoner, Phoenix Wagoner, Kylianne (Jonathan) Elliana, Annalise & Adilynn Durachinsky, and a great-grandmother to Maximus Childs and baby McKean, who will born into her legacy of love. She is also survived by her siblings Barry (Sharon) Arp, Charlotte (Robbie) Dugger, and Donnie (Toni) and Kenny (Tina) Parker; her special friend, Roger Kay; and many beloved nieces and a nephew.

Visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home (131 N. Canton Rd., Akron) Friday, on February 27, 2026, from 12:00p.m. to 1:00p.m., with services immediately following at 1:00p.m.

Helen will be laid to rest at Greentown Cemetery.

Helen’s legacy of faith, compassion, strength, and unconditional love will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
