Harvey Lee Bennett, Jr. went home to be with the Lord on November 14, 2024 at the Hospice Care Center. Harvey was born on February 8, 1946 to Harvey and Willie Mae Bennett (deceased). Harvey was a life resident of Akron, Ohio, where he retired from Goodyear Research.
Harvey will always be remembered as being loving, caring and outgoing. Harvey loved people, especially his family. He loved helping people and would do anything to help someone. He also loved playing cards and having fun times with family and friends.
Harvey was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. The church members gave him the nickname, “The Candy Man” because he always brought candy to church for everyone. His favorite saying was “It’s the little things.” No one was a stranger to him.
Harvey is survived by his sisters Marlene Richard and Lynnette (Thomas) Hilliard; He leaves to cherish his memory Anton, Harvey Bennett III and Valecia; 12 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. In addition to his family, Harvey’s legacy lives on through his many dear friends whose love and support enriched his life. His name and legacy will continue to be carried on and celebrated in the households of the following families; Bennett, Jefferies, Wheelers, Robinsons, Shorts, Berry’s, Humphries, Smarts, McPhail, McCants, Brooks, Willett and Golson family members and friends whom he loved.
Harvey, we love you! You will always be in our hearts.
Services will he held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Newcomer Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 12-1pm prior to the service. In Lieu of flowers, please send donations to Greater Grace Full Gospel Baptist Church.
