Harry Lukkes, age 92, of the City of Green died unexpectedly May 8, 2025 at home with family by his side. Harry was honorably discharged from the Army. He was a teacher in Kennebec, South Dakota and graduated from the School of Mines in SD with a degree in electrical engineering working for Goodyear and Lockheed Martin for many years.
Preceded in death by parents Hans and Bernice (Holter) Lukkes and brother Carl Lukkes. He is survived by his loving companion of 37 years Susan Stair; children Janis (Jim) Martin and Scott (Arlen) Lukkes all of CA; step children Roy (Teresa) Lin of Ravenna, Charleen Dipancrafio of MN, Kandi Sucher of OH and Tina Coblentz of IN.
Harry was a major car nut and always had 2 or 3 in the driveway. He loved to tease and tell really dumb jokes. He never met anyone he didn't like and had a great laugh. He loved family and his cats Weird and Daisy Mae.
Cremation has taken place and there are no formal services. Donations to any Humane Society is greatly appreciated. His final resting place is in Pioneer Cemetery in Avon, SD with his parents and brother.
