Harold "Smitty" Smith, 84, passed away peacefully at home with family on January 31, 2018. A longtime Akron resident born April 5, 1933 in Pennsylvania. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed woodworking, roller skating, and loved taking care of his family. Harold will be missed by many who knew him.
He was preceded in death by daughter, Carolyn Kane. Harold is survived by loving wife of 44 years, Penny; daughter, Lynn Flack; step-daughter, Conni (Don); grandchildren, Shannon, Yolanda, Keith, Joe (Katie), Rachel; great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Sarafina, Jameson, Camden; sisters, Gladys, Patty; and brothers, Fred, Gary.
Family will receive guests on Monday, February 5, 2018 from 5-8pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N., Canton Rd., Akron. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at 11am at Springfield Fellowship Church, 830 Ewart Rd., Akron, OH 44312, with visitation from 10-11am. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Springfield Fellowship Church for the Youth fund.
