Harold G. Copen
Harold G. Copen, 90, of Brimfield, passed away December 20, 2013. He was born December 12, 1923 to C.H. and Laura Copen up in Happy Hollow, 3 miles from the county seat, Elizabeth, in Wirt County, West Virginia. He attended Bethel M.E. Methodist Church on top of Elizabeth Hill, just above the horseshoe bend. Harold retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. after 32 years of service. He was a member of First Freedom Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his son, Lloyd A. Copen; daughter-in-law, Anna Marie Copen; grandson, Joseph A. Copen; great-grandson, Jacob D. Bauerbach. He is survived by his wife, Eileen and her daughter, Jill (Tony) Lawrence; his sons, Harold J. "Buck" Copen, Denzil E. Copen and Brian W. (Michelle) Copen; his daughters, Doris E. (Jim) Gomez and Vicki (Tony) Spradley; sister, Elsie Flinn; brother, Vernon Copen; daughter-in-law, Victoria Copen; fifteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson.
Family and friends may call on Thursday, December 26 from 5-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. Visitation will be Friday from 10-11 followed by an 11 a.m. funeral service with Pastor Dan Alexoff officiating at First Freedom Baptist Church, 2171 Tallmadge Rd in Brimfield.
Interment at Grandview Memorial Park. In lieu fo flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Freedom Baptist Church, Kent, OH 44240.
