Guy P. Wilson

Guy Paul "Buddy" Wilson, passed away on August 1, 2014. Guy was born on September 1, 1924, in Union, West Virginia. He served in the U.S. Army from July 1943 to January 1946, having spent nine months on Iwo Jima. He married Cleo Grubb on June 21, 1946 in Union, West Virginia. Together they moved to Akron, Ohio where Guy worked at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company for 40 years, mostly in the rim plant. While raising his family in Lakemore, Ohio, he volunteered with the Lakemore Fire Department for 27 years, and retired as an honorary member in 1977. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and was an avid coin collector.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Cleo Wilson, and his daughter, Patricia Schafer. He is survived by sons; Donald (Kathy) Wilson, Charles (Lori) Wilson, and daughter, Brenda (Dennis) Lauze. He also leaves nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and many close friends and relatives. We would like to extend our gratitude to the Sterling House and Hospice in Canton, OH for the kind and loving care they extended to Guy over the past three years.

Friends and family may call 5-7 pm on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd, Akron, OH 44305. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Mt. Peace Cemetery in Hartville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the charity of your choice.
