Greg Aschelman, 75, passed away peacefully at home on August 3, 2026. Born in Akron, Ohio to Henry and Liz (McGown) Aschelman, he was a lifelong area resident of Kenmore. He was proud to serve on the Akron Fire Department for 28 years. Greg belonged to the Orioles, American Legion, Hibernian Club, Sons of Herman, Eagles and the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed going to the beach in Florida, watching Westerns on TV, working in the yard and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, Greg was preceded in death by his sisters, Kathy Igleheart, Pam Christner. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 16 years, Lucy; children, Alaina (Bob) Ondash, Eric Aschelman; granddaughter, Madison Ondash; sister, Bev Hammelman; several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to visit Wednesday, August 12, 2026 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Newcomer, Akron Chapel, 131 N. Canton Rd. Those who wish may make memorial donations in Greg's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Shriners or Boys Town.
