Grace M. Brown, 90, passed away June 17, 2014. She was born in Arcadia, PA. She later moved to St. Benedict's when she was 5 years old, and lived there until 1951 when she moved to Akron. She graduated from Carrolltown High School. Grace married Bernard Brown in 1944 and was married for 50 years.
She has three sons: John (Donna), Bud (Pati), and Don (Diane); seven grandchildren: three boys and four girls; eleven great-grandchildren.
Grace liked to work with her hands doing crafts, crocheting, knitting, and flower gardening. She also enjoyed camping at Berlin Dam. Grace went to work after her boys were in high school, working at Parker's Meats on Canton Rd. and at the Revco Drug Store on Darrow Rd. where she retired in 1983. She was a member of Reservoir Park Seniors, Ellet Community Center Seniors, East Akron Women's Club, and the United Food and Drug Union. Grace was Secretary for the Reservoir Seniors for 6 years. Grace packed Mobile Meals at Reservoir and took books and treats to Colonial Gardens every other Friday. She attended Meade Ave. Christian Church.
Visitation will be Thursday June 19 from 4-6 p.m. followed by a 6:00 p.m. funeral service with Rev. Jim Bane officiating at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron.
