Gladys M. Bland

Gladys M. Bland, 93, of Akron, passed away May 18, 2014. She was born in Pine Grove, WV on August 7, 1920 to the late Dennis and Clara Fankhouser. Gladys was a member of Ernest Angley's Grace Cathedral where she ushered for over 30 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell; brother, Dennis Fankhouser and sister, Merle Howell.

Gladys is survived by her daughter, May Austin; sister, Violet Hatfield and brother, Tom Fankhouser; grandchildren, Scott and Russell; great-grandchildren, Brittani, Amanda, Drew and Taylor Rae Austin.

Family and friends may call on Friday, May 23, from 12-1 p.m. (no calling hours on Thursday night as initially stated) at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where a funeral service will be held on Friday, May 23 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Brock Miller presiding. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park.
