Geraldine "Gerry" Dzuro, 80, of Green, Ohio, went to her heavenly home on September 28, 2014, after a brief illness. Her strong faith and the love of her family supported her in this journey and ultimately gave her peace.
Born October 23, 1933, Gerry lived in Henderson, Kentucky and was employed at The Gleaner Newspaper. After getting married, moving to Akron, and raising her daughter, she returned to the workforce where she worked for the City of Akron in the Street and Legal Departments. Gerry was a member of the Arlington Nazarene Church in Akron for more than 50 years, where she taught Sunday school and held various positions. Her special ministry was visiting and caring for the elderly, until she was no longer able. She enjoyed church activities, and in particular, planning and participating in travel excursions and retreats with the 'Prime Time' retiree group. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, including Bumper, the family's toy fox terrier. Gerry was outgoing, never met a stranger, and had a 'gift' for writing, often sending cards and letters of encouragement.
Preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Louise and Charles Grimes, and father, Maurice Sutton, Gerry is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Jack; daughter, Marilyn (Jeff) Chapanar of Green, OH; and very special cousin, Sherry Knight of Henderson, KY. She will be dearly missed by her family.
