Gerald "Jerry" Bennett

Gerald "Jerry" Bennett passed away June 3, 2016 surrounded by love and care. Jerry was born February 3, 1935. He graduated from Springfield High School (class of 1953) and the University of Akron. Retired from Ohio Edison, Jerry offered a helping hand to all, enjoyed playing bridge, golfing, square dancing, plays and concerts.

Jerry was predeceased by his mother, Ada Ruffing, and wife of 53 years, Dora H. Bennett in 2007. He will be sadly missed by daughter, Gail (Jim) Laston of Tallmadge; son, Jerry (Michelle) Bennett of Kannapolis, NC; grandchildren, Derek and Benjamin (Jennifer) Laston; great-grandchildren, Logan, Alex, Sydney and Andrew; dear friend, Bonnie; friends and extended family. The family would like to thank Crossroads Hospice and Senior Helpers for excellent care.

A remembrance visitation will be held on Tuesday June 7, 2016 from 4-6 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. In lieu of flowers, consider making a donation to the charity of your choice.
