George "Rio" Marez, 78, of Stow, passed away on October 25, 2025. He was born in San Antonio, TX on July 7, 1947 to the late Jose Sr. and Concepcion "Connie" {Garcia} Marez.
In addition to his parents, Rio was preceded in death by his brother Jose "Tony" Marez and sister Margie Perez.
Rio is survived by his loving daughters Connie (Bryan) Slaughter and Tori Long; grandchildren Emerald, Annabelle, Coby (Michenna), Cameron (Pete) and James; great-grandchildren Adalynn, Liam and one on the way; brothers Albert Marez and Danny Marez.
He was a proud veteran of the United States Army.
Rio, known to many as "Adventure Man", loved his home in Costa Rica, and traveled there often. He had a...unique way of golfing, which was one of his favorite hobbies. Almost every other activity he enjoyed involved water: kayaking, fishing, swimming and scuba diving, which led to his professional career as a commercial diver.
Rio never met a stranger, and made friends everywhere he traveled. He will be deeply missed by all those he touched in his life, in all corners of the globe.
