George Michael Gajdos, born on October 31, 1955, passed away unexpectedly on July 24, 2026 in his hometown of Akron. He was 70 years old.
George was a man of many passions and talents. A dedicated Kung Fu & Tai Chi instructor, he shared his love for martial arts with countless students over the years, inspiring discipline and mindfulness in those who learned from him. His artistic eye and curiosity about the universe found expression through astrophotography capturing the beauty of the cosmos in stunning detail. George also had a gift for comedy bringing laughter and joy to those around him with his sharp wit and humor.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Deb (Hembree); his father, George; his mother, Norma and his niece, Kristin Latchaw. George is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Laurie and Ed Latchaw; his nephew and his wife, Nick and Amy Latchaw; and great-nephew, Aiden Latchaw.
His family will forever cherish the memories they shared with him. May George's memory bring comfort to all who knew him and serve as a reminder of a life lived with passion and creativity.
A memorial service will be held August 4, 2026 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Road. Visitation will be 4 - 6 PM with service immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial donations to The American Heart Association.
