Gary David Allen, born on June 9, 1945, in Parkersburg, West Virginia to William (Bill) and Nina Allen, passed away unexpectedly on April 30, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication. As the third son in the Allen family, he was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Dan, Bob, and Tom.
In 1967, he married the love of his life, Diane Marie Henthorn. For nearly 58 years, they were best friends, and he was a wonderful, loving husband. Together, they built a life filled with joy and a close-knit family that they love deeply.
Left to cherish memories of the very best Husband and Dad in the world are his wife, Diane; daughters, Teresa Hinkle and Brenda Green; sons-in-law, Mark Hinkle and Stacy Green will forever remember the remarkable man with a great sense of humor who set the bar so high for them. As a one-of-a-kind Grandpa, he shared a special bond and always took immense pride in his five grandsons, Tyler and Justin Hinkle and Nathaniel, Brycen, and Kaeden Green. He was beloved Uncle Gary to many nephews and nieces. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Betty, Shirley, and Sharon Allen and Cheri Henthorn; as well as his many lifelong friendships that spanned decades; and his best friend, Jr. Rankin.
Gary retired from the Carpenters Local 639, and he passed his strong work ethic onto his daughters and grandsons. Gary's generosity and talents were well-known and he had a knack for fixing anything, he even built their house in Brimfield and a cabin near Tappan Lake.
From a young age, Gary loved to hunt with his Dad and brothers, a passion he later shared with his nephews and grandsons. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, and being on the pontoon boat with his family. Gary was a manly man but also could cook, bake, and even sew. He made the best bacon, and everyone always enjoyed his famous homemade chocolate pies on the holidays.
