Gaile Marie Young

Gaile Marie Young, 70, passed away on March 22, 2025 after years of battling multiple heath issues. She was born on June 8, 1954 in Barberton, Ohio but grew up in the Firestone area of Akron, Ohio. Gaile had three siblings, David, Nancy and Barb.

Gaile studied cosmetology, but spent the bulk of her career working for Parasson’s Italian Restaurant, from Nov. 2, 1985 to Feb. 12, 2006, starting in the kitchen and working her way up to the manager they called on to fix troubled stores. She left Parrason’s to find a new career path and got a job at Akron General Hospital doing house keeping. While at Akron General, Gaile enjoyed being just a worker and turned down all offers of moving back into management. Gaile worked at Akron General until she physically couldn’t any longer, having both knees replaced and tearing both achilles tendons over the years of being on her feet. But being the workaholic that Gaile was, retirement bored her, so she called Tony Parasson up and went back to working as a hostess at the Barberton store from April 17, 2017 until March 15, 2020 until the COVID plandemic.

Gaile was an animal lover which turned her into a crazy cat lady, feeding all the neighborhood strays plus her own. Gaile also loved helping people. She would often volunteer her time with the “Bridges Out Of Poverty” program at her church, Park United Methodist Church in Akron. She also enjoyed crocheting, which she taught classes while at the Merriman, and cross stitching. Gaile loved spending time with her grandchildren, family and dear friends, Eileen, Bill, Tom and Marty.

She is preceded in death by her parents, David and Shirley Rardin; brother, David Rardin; nephew, Shawn Blummer; and dear friend, Marty Morgan.

Gaile is survived by her sons, Vincent (Jennifer) and Nathan (Christie); and four grandchildren, Chase, Niall, Gretchen and Elliott.

All are welcome to attend her Memorial Service at Park United Methodist Church, 2308 24th St. SW, Akron OH 44314 on Wednesday, April 30th beginning at 1 p.m.
