Frank L. Parkins, 87 passed away on Monday ,December 28th, 2015.
He was born on December 12, 1928 in Akron, Ohio to Frank and Evelyn Parkins.
Frank retired from The Firestone Tire and rubber company after 25 years of service.
He enjoyed golf in the summer. Frank enjoyed Fall hiking sprees with his wife, Rita through the Metro Parks. In the winter, Frank built balsa wood airplanes which he gave to the neighborhood children. He loved to travel and visit relatives in California. Frank is a WWII Army veteran who served in Italy 1946 and 1947.
He is survived by his sons ,Donald Parkins and Gerald Parkins (Kathy); grandchildren, Peter Parkins, Erica Laymon ( Donald) Lauren Parkins; great-grandson, Dillon Laymon.
Frank and his wife of 65 years, Rita, will be laid to rest together as they passed within 2 days of each other.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, December 31, 2015 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Road, Akron, Ohio 44305. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Hillside Memorial Park. Donations may be made to Hospice of VNS in Franks Honor
