Forrest A. "Scotty" Scott Jr.
Forrest A. Scott Jr., 88, of Akron, passed away May 7, 2015. He was born in Cherry Tree, Pennsylvania on May 11, 1926 to the late Forrest and Audrey Scott Sr. Forrest served in the US Army during World War II. After the war, he moved to Akron in 1946 and gained employment at Goodyear Tire and Rubber. He retired in 1988 after 40 years of service. Forrest was a member of the Masons. He was a talented woodworker and had many interests including hunting, photography, and birdwatching.
In addition to his parents, Forrest was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Scott and sisters, Marjorie and Madge Scott. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 50 years, Velda; daughters, Jacqueline Langley and Debra (James) Buchanan; sisters, Lois O'Toole and Doris (Terry) Ruhlman; grandchildren, Christy (Steve) Steagall, Erica (Todd) Criswell, Kara Brawley, Susan (Todd) Lawrence, and Julie Garrison; great-grandchildren, Jacob, JT, Rob, Jala, Ella, Amaya, Theodore, and Izak; great-great-granddaughter, Sophia; special cousins, Judith and Ron Kruise; nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 12, 2015 from 12-1 followed by a 1:00 p.m. funeral service at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Interment at Crown Hill Cemetery.
