Forest L. Thorn

Forest L. Thorn, age 80, passed away on April 8, 2025. He was born on September 17, 1944. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Loretta Thorn. He is survived by daughter Judy Kopcha; niece Sandra Fannin; and best friends Chuck Lang and John Lange.

Forest retired from the Akron Fire Department, and was a highly decorated Army Vietnam Veteran with a Purple Heart. He was a member of the Mogadore United Methodist Church. Forest was an avid reader. He loved listening to music and was learning how to play the guitar. He enjoyed fishing, playing lottery tickets, and volunteering at the VSC.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. with a service to follow at 1:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home with pastor Dave Haydu officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to his church Mogadore United Methodist Church (3828 Mogadore Rd, Mogadore, OH 44260).
