Felicia B. McClelland, 99, passed away peacefully at her home on July 2, 2015. Born on August 17, 2015 in Chicago, Illinois, Felicia lived most of her life in the Akron area. She attended St. Matthew Catholic Church and was a member of the Council of Catholic Women. Felicia attended DePaul University and earned a degree in social work from Chicago University which lead to her successful career in helping others. She retired from her career as a social worker from the Summit County Senior Center. Throughout her lifetime, Felicia enjoyed participating in church activities, sewing, writing letters, and making cards for friends and family. Her kindness and gentle spirit touched the lives of many.
Felicia was preceded in death by her husband, Orville McClelland; parents, Walter and Mary Piekarz; and brother, Gene Piekarz. She is survived by her sister, Janet Poterek; and many relatives and close friends. Special thanks to all of Felicia's caregivers, especially her dear friend, Melodi Shenigo.
Memorial calling will be held on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. followed by a 10:30 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 2580 Berne, Akron. Fr. Mike Williamson will be presiding. Inurnment at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of other remembrances, memorials may be made to St. Matthew Catholic Church, 2603 Benton Ave., Akron OH 44312.
