Everett F. Nail
As this story came to an end, Everett Friel Nail began his next great adventure with the Lord Jesus on March 27, 2015. We celebrate the beginning of this life journey in Piper's Gap, Virginia on April 25, 1924, or 1923 if you ask the U.S. Army.
Everett enjoyed his time serving this nation; from Europe to guarding the White House, to spending time serving in San Francisco. When the war ended, Everett returned to Piper's Gap to find his best friend Willard itching to go to Akron, Ohio to find work at Goodyear. After 38 1/2 years, Everett retired from Goodyear. Everett never forgot his small Virginia roots. He would travel back and forth many times a year, sent money to family members during times of need, and even brought part of small town Appalachia to the front porch of urban Goodyear Heights by playing his fiddle or picking his banjo. Everett was very active at Grace Baptist Church. Everett will be missed. He was a generous man, always willing to help those in need. He loved cars, crafting with wood, and grew some of the best tomatoes you've ever seen.
He was preceded in death by his 5 brothers and 1 sister. Those sending off Everett include his wife of 66 years, Verdell Page Nail; his 3 children, William Jimmy (Dee), Robert (Deborah) and Jacqueline (John); 7 grandkids, Rusty, Kelly, Justyn, Jacob, Jillian, Adam, and Haylee; 8 great-grandkids; 3 sisters-in-law; 1 brother-in-law; several nieces and nephews; and many friends including longtime neighbor Rosie.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 1, 2015 from 5-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. Funeral services will be Thursday at 12 noon with visitation for one hour prior at Grace Baptist Church, 704 N. Firestone Blvd, Akron. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park.
