Eugene Halman (Angel)
Eugene Halman passed away on December 27, 2015 at the age of 79 with his loving family at his side. He was born in Akron, OH on February 17, 1936 to Rexell and Mary (Huffman) Halman. He attended Springfield Schools then joined the US Air Force in 1954. He was stationed at Whiteman Air Force Base in 1957 where he met and married his wife Delores. In 1961 Eugene and Delores went to Malstrom Air Force base where Eugene went into the Minute Man Missiles. He contributed directly to establishing and maintaining strategic alert posture of the first Minute Man Missiles of the US Air Force. He was very proud of his work with the Minute Man Missiles. After leaving the service in December of 1963 he and his family stayed in Missouri for 3 years moving back to Ohio in 1966. Eugene worked for P.I.E. Trucking for 8 years then went to work for the B&O Railroad where he retired in 1998. Eugene loved spending time with this family and friends. He liked camping, fishing and motorcycles.
Eugene was preceded in death by his father, Rexall; mother, Mary; brother, Robert; and sister, Nancy. He leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Dolores; daughters, Sherrie, Donna (Bill), Tracy, Marla, and Shellie (Tom); 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Gerald (Pat); sister, Paula (Knip); and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors on Sunday January 3, 2016 from 1-4pm at Newcomer Funeral Home 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44305. Interment will take place on Monday January 4 at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. If anyone wishes to attend, meet at Newcomer Funeral Home at 1:25pm for the procession to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, make a donation to a favorite charity.
