Ernest Stanley Smith, Jr.
Ernest Stanley Smith, Jr., 71, passed away June 21, 2014. He was born in Akron on October 22, 1942 to the late Ernest and Elsie Smith. Throughout Stan's life, he worked for Danner Press, sold cars for 15 years, and retired as a bus driver for the Manchester School District after 25 years of service. He was a member of the Barberton Moose Lodge. His passion was golf and he had many buddies in the "Jungle" Golf League.
In addition to his parents, Stan was preceded in death by his half brothers, Wayne, Louis, and Ronald Petersen. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 52 years, Betty; children, Steven Smith, Carrie Combs, and Heather (Kevin) Powell; sisters, Mae (Spencer) Clark and Beatrice Miracle; six grandchildren: Caitlin, Nicholas, Taylor, Spencer, Noah, and Willow; and three great-grandchildren.
Family and friends may call on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 from 5-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:00 p.m. Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park.
