Erma Maxine Creel, 96, died in Houston, Texas on October 30, 2012. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-three years, Loahman "Bill" Creel. Maxine was born on July 29, 1916 in Harrison County, Ohio near the town of Cadiz. She moved to Akron, Ohio and married Bill Creel in 1946. They raised three children. She was an Avon representative for forty-three years. She also drove a school bus for Special Education children for thirteen years. She was an active member of the Eastwood Church of The Brethren for twenty-two years, then the Kent Baptist Temple, and later Falls Creek Community Church. After her husband retired from Goodyear Aerospace, they lived for six months in Largo, Florida in a retirement park and for six months in Akron, Ohio each year. After her husband's death in May 2000, she moved to Houston, Texas to live near her eldest daughter. She is survived by daughter Judy Scheifley and husband Bill of Sugar Land, Texas; daughter Cathy Meszaros and husband Doug (deceased) of Hot Springs, Arkansas; son Bill Creel and wife Norma of Austin, Texas and grandchildren Shawn Phipps of Los Angeles, California, Shannon Thompson of Sugar Land, Texas, Carol Smith and husband Jay of Austin, Texas, Andy Creel and wife Korie of Austin, Texas, and Melody Alvarez and husband James of Austin, Texas. A service to celebrate Maxine's life will be held on November 3, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. with Pastor Michael Thomas officiating. Interment will be at Hillside Memorial Park. The viewing will be held prior to the service from 12:00 noon to 1:00 PM.
