Eric Carl Contrascier
Eric Carl Contrascier, 57, of Hinckley, went home to be with the Lord with his family by his side on February 19, 2015. He was born on January 23, 1958 to Carl C. and Betty J. Contrascier. He graduated from Springfield High School where he was a four sport athlete. Eric had a lifelong love of flying and learned to pilot a plane before he could drive a car. He was nominated for the Air Force Academy. He had a passion for aerobatic flying and co-owned a plane which he flew in competitions across the country. He loved the outdoors and could often be found fishing in the summer and skiing in the winter. His interests included bow hunting, woodworking, sailing, rock climbing, scuba diving, martial arts, and white water rafting. He served as a volunteer fireman in Uniontown and was employed with Western Reserve Group. He was a member of Heartland Community Church.
Eric was preceded in death by his father, Carl; and infant brother, Dwight. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 33 1/2 years, Pam; children, Carl and Alicia; mother, Betty; sister, Rebecca (Kevin) Heiney; brother, Gregory (Sandy) Contrascier; mother-in-law, Lela Anderson; brother-in-law, Ric (Kim) Anderson; many nieces and nephews. He also leaves his beloved dog, Rooney.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 25, 2015 from 4-7 followed by a 7:00 p.m. memorial service with Pastor Dave Ambrose officiating at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Toys For Tots or the Salvation Army.
