Emogene Alred, age 85, of New Franklin, Ohio, passed away September 15, 2016 at 10:15 PM at Pleasant View Health Care Center in Barberton. Emogene was born in Livingston, Tennessee on January 16, 1931 to the late Willis and Ottie Zachary Long.
Emogene was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, flower gardening, and loved to visit with friends and family and she had a vivacious sense of humor. She was a member of the Kenmore Congregation Kingdom Hall.
In addition to her parents, Emogene was preceded in death by her loving Husband of 67 years on April 1, 2015, R.K. Alred, they were united in marriage on December 25, 1947; one daughter, Toni Cobb; two grandchildren, Erik and Joseph Huddleston; her siblings, Odell Long, Eudean Looper, and other younger siblings.
She is survived by her daughter, Janet (Jay) Huddleston; her son-in-law, Brent Cobb; four grandchildren, Anita Tresidder, Matthew (Jennifer) Huddleston, Zachary (Celeste) Elias, and Shelby (Thomas) Swarout; nine great-grandchildren; several loving nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Dean Fletcher and Jim Franz.
Per Emogene's wishes she will be cremated and there will not be any visitation or services and she will be placed with her husband at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Newcomer Funeral Home-Akron.
