Emanuel Victor Ecker, V

Emanuel Victor Ecker, V, "Mannie", age 78, was born and raised in Akron on March 4, 1940, the son of the late Emanuel V. and Donna (nee (Helmkee) Ecker, IV; Mannie passed away on December 8, 2018 at his home.

He graduated from Central High School and the University of Akron. He was a friend of Bill W. and Dr. Bob, the AA Founders, since January 12, 1990.

Mannie was a retired rubber worker for General Tire and RCA Rubber for 35 years in total. He loved to golf and he had a great interest in geneology; He traced his roots back to Emanuel Victor Ecker, I in 1812, a name which spans 206 years and seven generations strong. Mannie's pride and joy was spending time with his family.

Survivors include his loving wife, Glenna Jane (nee Potts) Ecker, whom he married on January 22, 1994; his children, Emanuel Victor Ecker, VI and Emily Donna Elicker; and Jane's children, Don (Kari) Helmkee, II, Grace (JD) Farris, and Missy Helmkee, who has been like a second daughter; his step-daughters, Julie (Kurt) Carr and Cindy (Andrew) Gwin. His grandchildren also survive, Emanuel Victor Ecker, VII, Shawna (Steve) Svab, Rachel Ecker, Jason, Leah, and Ryan Elicker, Ryan Hutchins, Marissa Ostrander, Angie, Rob, Neil and Sarah; his great-grandchildren, Aiden, Ethan, Karson, Karter, and Trey. His brother also survives, Geoff Ecker and his son Kevin.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron.

Following calling hours, Mannie will be cremated.
