Elsie "Joanne" Lewis, 78, passed away on August 28, 2014.
She was born on February 25, 1936 in Akron to the late Kenneth and Elsie Hershberger, and had been a Tallmadge resident for most of her life. Joanne retired from the Tallmadge schools where she drove a bus for 25+ years. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norval Lewis. Survivors include sons, Curt (Judy) and Norvel (Susan); daughters, Peggy Alt and Rebecca (Ron) Compton; 14 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Ted (Marlyn) and Karl (Janet) Hershberger.
Calling hours will be Sunday, 2-6 p.m., at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. A graveside service will be held TUESDAY, 11 a.m., at Tallmadge Cemetery (New Section off of Rt. 91). In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
