Edward Peter Rose, Jr., "Ed", age 85, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, died on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at his home.
He was born on May 25, 1933 in Binghamton, New York, the son of the late Edward Peter and Elizabeth (nee Darrow) Rose, Sr.
Ed owned and operated Rose Upholstering in Akron. He enjoyed life to the fullest. He was extremely service oriented, Ed volunteered his time at the soup kitchens, Habitat for Humanity, or wherever he was needed. He would give to anyone, whether he was in need or not, his saying, "God will provide". His greatest joy was spending time with his family.
Edward was also a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, which merged with Tallmadge United Methodist Church.
Mr. Rose was an honorably discharged US Air Force veteran of the Korean War and remained very active with his fellow veterans.
Survivors include his children, Tina M. Rose-Janok and John (Cindy) Rose; his grandchildren, Gwendolyn Rose (his caregiver for the last two years of his life), Jennifer (Jarrod) Chapman, Christine (Christopher Battles) Janok, Alexander Janok, and Theresa Janok; his great-grandchildren, Emma, Matthew, Maxwell, and Paxton. One sister, Frances Latini, and many nieces and nephews also survive.
Other than his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his wife, the former Dorothy Jean Sisler on April 22, 2015, they were united in marriage on March 5, 1955; and nine brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at 11:30 AM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron.
Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday evening, December 17, 2018 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM and also one hour prior to the service on Tuesday from 10:30 - 11:30 AM.
Mr. Rose will be laid to rest with his wife at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, Ohio.
