Edward A. George passed away July 22, 2014. He was born 6-24-1917 in Allons, Tennessee to Oliver and Ether George who brought him up to know and love the Lord God. He was drafted into the Army in 1938 and was soon sent to Hawaii. He was a member of Survivors of Pearl Harbor for many years. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber. He attended New Horizons Christian Church where he was a trustee for many years.
He is survived by sons, Ron George and Kevin (Karen) George; daughter, Karen (Patrick) Burridge; grandchildren, Brandon (Sherri Belanger) George, Sean Burridge, Cassie George, Edward (MaryAnne) Burridge, Brian (Kara Herman) George, Michelle (James) Myers, Andrew George; great-grandchildren, Matthew and Olivia Myers, and Jayden and Sawyer Belanger; brother, Donald (Faye Anderson) George; and sister, Frances Martin.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances George; brothers, Mayford and Lloyd George; sisters, Clara Broome, Stella Wilburn, Marnie George, Melsie Crabtree, Ruby Neely, Odean Greenwood, Bessie Winningham, Lois Seber, and Lucille Peterman.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 30 at 6:30 p.m. at New Horizons Christian Church, 290 Darrow Rd., Akron, with Pastor Jim Bane officiating.
