Edna Mae Bloom, 76, a woman whose life was deeply rooted in faith and devotion to her lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, passed away on April 19, 2026. She was born on November 9, 1949, in Youngstown, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Jack and Shirley Bloom, whom she cherished and adored. After over 30 years of dedication and service, she proudly retired from the United States Postal Service (USPS).
Edna's life was marked by a profound commitment to her spiritual beliefs, and she possessed a tender heart and a soul that touched the lives of many. She was the embodiment of kindness and when you met her, it felt like home. Her unwavering faith was a cornerstone of her identity. As a devoted member of the deaf church and community, she found strength in praying, worshiping, and reading the Bible.
Edna was also an accomplished artist, expressing her creativity in a wide variety of genres. From painting to pottery, and drawing to photography, she had an exquisite eye and displayed unmatched talent. She expressed her sincere and thoughtful emotionality and her boundless compassion through her work. Known for her warmth and kindness, Edna’s hugs were legendary. Her embrace conveyed comfort and love, and always made you feel safe and protected.
But her hugs weren’t her signature characteristic, it was her electrifying smile. Edna could light up a room with the twinkle in her eye and the warmth of her smile. Her unique and famous “Happy Birthday Song” that she always sang to her children on their special day signified her limitless love for others and showed how special she truly was.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and the father of her children, Doug Sauter.
Edna is survived by her daughters, Paula Sauter, Cathy (Jon Gura) Cherico (Sauter), and Amy Sauter; grandchildren Spencer, Selina, Clover, and Savannah; brother Rick (Tina) Bloom, her niece Jada (Barry) Parks and their children Germania and Jupiter, her nephew Jarlath Bloom, and friends; but most importantly, her beloved bestie, Mary Jo.
A special thanks to Kristin, for the love and kindness shown to Edna, and the way she has supported her children during this difficult time.
