Earnest "Mike" Cooper
Mike Cooper, 59, of Akron, passed away October 8, 2012. Mike was born on November 1, 1952 in Calhoun, Georgia to the late Ernest and Eva Cooper. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force and was employed as an electrician at Akron Children's Hospital. In his free time, Mike enjoyed fishing with his friends on Lake Erie.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Wanda Sue Cooper Barlow. He will be deeply missed by his daughter, Kelly Melissa Cooper; and many good friends including his caretakers Matthew Hirsch and Marcella Fry. Special thanks to Hospice Care Center and Akron General Medical Center for all the care provided to Mike.
Visitation will be held Wednesday October 10 from 5-7 followed by a 7:00 p.m. funeral service at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hematology/Oncology Department at Akron Children's Hospital.
