Duran Hoover, 91, of Akron, passed away on October 23, 2024. He was born on September 17, 1933 the son of the late Guy and Susan Hoover of Canfield, W.V. Duran graduated from Sutton High School. He retired from Gauer Mold & Machine Co. after many years of dedicated service. He was a man of faith and was a member of Arlington Memorial Baptist Church. Duran proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a Master Sergeant. He was a National Guardsman for 17 years. Also served in the Military Police. Duran enjoyed the outdoors especially fishing, hunting and bird watching. He was proud of winning the Beautification Watch Award for the City of Akron.
Duran is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Shonette Hoover; daughter Debby (Bob) Strohhacker; son Greg Hoover; granddaughter Amanda Hoover (John) Unrue; step-granddaughters Katie Knight, and Emily Peterson; great granddaughter Freya Unrue; sister Gerry Feld; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 5:00PM, Wednesday, October 30th at Newcomer Funeral Home (131 N. Canton Rd., Akron 44305).
Private Interment will be held at Hillside Memorial Park.
