Dr. Bruce Anthony Baxter
Dr. Bruce Anthony Baxter, 60, formerly of Akron, passed away March 26, 2014 surrounded by his family after a long, courageous battle with Leukemia. Bruce was born in Garrett, IN and was preceded in death by his parents, Ross and Phyllis Baxter and brother, Mark Baxter of Canton. Sister, Candace Miller resides in Billings, MO.
Bruce leaves behind sons, Brandon Baxter and Sean Baxter, both of Akron, as well as his devoted wife, Rita. Dr. Baxter practiced medicine in the Akron and Dover/New Philadelphia areas, until retiring due to Multiple Sclerosis. He then set up a missionary clinic in the West Indies. Bruce possessed the largest heart for family and community. He had an immeasurable passion for adventure and creativity. Bruce was an amazing father and a wonderful husband.
It would be impossible to sum up this man's life in a paragraph. Bruce was incredibly sincere and honest. All who knew him respected and admired his strength and integrity for he was a true role model and a lovely human being.
To honor his life, a memorial service was held with family and friends at Newcomer Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
