Dorothy Learn

Dorothy Creita (Shelton) Learn, 96, born January 22, 1919 passed away suddenly on February 22, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard (Len) Erwin Learn of 51 years; brothers, Bud Shelton and Phil Shelton; sister, Martha Shelton; daughter-in-law, Linda (Middour) Learn; brother-in-laws, Harry (Ken) Learn, Robert (Bob) Kenney , Eric Edworthy and Johnny Lewis; sister-in-law, Catherine (Kate) Edworthy. Dorothy is survived by her children, Jim Learn, Judy (Terry) Vernon and Jill Stoll; six grandchildren, Steve Learn, Mic Learn, Kathy (Vernon) Cochran, Karen (Vernon) Shepherd, Matt Vernon and Deja (Stoll) Horvath; 10 great grandchildren, Drew Learn, Brittany Learn, Scott Cochran, Sara Cochran, Alex Shepherd, Jessica Shepherd, Brady Vernon, Parker Vernon and Mason Horvath and one Horvath on the way; sister, Delia Lewis; sister-in-laws, Jane Learn, Ginny Kenney and Connie Shelton; brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, Fred & Donna (Learn) Chancey and Bob & Betty Learn. She was a long time resident of Tallmadge, Ohio before retiring from the Accounts Payable Dept. in the main office of Acme (The Albrecht Grocery CO.) to Mesa, Arizona. She was known as Dot to her family and Dottie to her friends. In her spare time she enjoyed making ceramics and singing with the Mogadore Village Belles Chapter of Sweet Adelines. Traveling with her husband in their RV's was pleasure they enjoyed with family and friends visiting most every state. In her late 70's she took up the computer and enjoyed communicating with people all across the U.S. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the caring staff at the Merriman. Family and friends may call on Monday, March 2, 2015 from 10am to 11am at Newcomer Funeral Home 131, N. Canton Rd Akron where funeral services will follow at 11am. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.
