Dorothy D. Connell

Dorothy D. Connell, 93, of Akron, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2026. She was born on December 25, 1932 the daughter of the late James and Nettie Collins. Dorothy was a woman of great faith and was a member of Gospel Truth Assembly. She worked many years of dedicated service with Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. She enjoyed bowling but loved the outdoors and all its adventures. She always enjoyed going to the cabin in Canada and fishing in the wilderness. Never turning down an adventure she went para-sailing at 65. Dorothy never failed to brighten up a room with her humor and her infectious laughter and smile. She will always be remembered for the love in her heart, her compassion toward others and her deep faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband of 61 years, Bernard Connell; sons Darrell and Dale; grandsons Brandon and Abram; and 3 siblings.

Dorothy is survived by her loving family, children Kenneth (Patricia) Connell, Debra Hummel (Larry), and Brad (Shary) Connell; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; and many family and friends.

The family would like to thank the Gentiva Hospice Team for their care and support.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 to 1:00pm Thursday, June 18th at Newcomer Funeral Home (131 N. Canton Rd., Akron) where services will be held at 1:00pm.

Interment will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
