Doris "Jean" Lowther, 91, of Cuyahoga Falls, passed away on February 28, 2026 after a short illness. She was born in Spencer, WV on December 23, 1934 to the late Ovie and Ersie {Stanley} Henthorn.
In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years Glen Lowther, her siblings Crayton Taylor, Alyce Burdette, Dorothy Robertson, Dorman Henthorn, Lakin Henthorn, Garnet Walker, Pearl Miller, as well as several brother- and sister-in-laws.
Jean is survived by her loving daughter Cheryl (Denny) Towsley; grandson Kurt (Debbie) Towsley; 3 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Jean worked at AT&T for 31 1/2 years, and after retiring, she and Glen split their time between Akron and Naples, FL for many years. She was a member of Ohio Bell Pioneers, Akron Baptist Temple, Broadman Baptist Church and her neighborhood widow's group. She loved playing cards, dominoes, and Mahjongg and was happiest when spending time with her family and friends.
Jean was blessed with a giving heart and beautiful soul. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Family and friends are invited to visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44305 on Monday, March 9th from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. when the funeral service will begin. A committal service will follow at the Hillside Memorial Park Mausoleum, where Jean will be laid to rest with her husband Glen.
