Donald Edward Rinehart went home to be with his Lord on December 9, 2014. He was born July 15, 1924 to the Lewis and Reah Lenore (Parker) Rinehart, in Canfield, Ohio and raised in Camelsport and Mantua, Ohio. The family moved to East Akron in his teen years and he attended East High School, until he left school to join the Army during WWII. After the war Donald returned to work at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., where he worked for Forty-four years, until retirement. After retirement from Goodyear, Donald worked for Akron Auto Auction as a driver. He was a member of the Akron Police Reserve Auxiliary for 32 plus years and served with distinction. Don was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 65 years, much of that with Loyalty Lodge #48 of Akron and later with the Coventry Akron Lodge #83. He was also a member of Tadmor Temple Shrine for 25 years and Yusef Khan Grotto for 50 years, Scottish Rite Valley of Akron and Commandery. In the Yusef Khan Grotto, he enjoyed being a member of the Clown Unit, Safety Unit, Cast Unit, Camping Unit, and was the Monarch of the Grotto in 1976. Donald was a member of the Goodyear Hts. Presbyterian Church for 55 years and served as a Deacon, usher, and greeter. Donald was preceded in death by his brothers, Lewis, Carl, Bob, Hugh, and Frank; and sister, Evelyn Slough. He is survived by his loving wife Joanne; sonDonald E Rinehart Jr.; Step-son, David "Josh" (Eileen) Arrington; daughter, Cynthia (Clayton) Hughes; and grand-daughter, Allie Hughes; also several nieces and nephews.
Donald was loved by all and will be missed greatly.
Family and Friends may call on Sunday December 14, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m at Newcomer Funeral Home 131 N. Canton Rd, Akron, OH a family tribute will be held at 4:30pm on Sunday with a Masonic service to follow at 5pm conducted by Coventry Akron Lodge #83. Services will be held at the Funeral Home Monday December 15, 2014 at 11:00 a.m with Rev. Reford Nash officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Goodyear Heights Presbyterian Church, 1430 Goodyear Blvd Akron, Ohio 44305 or Grotto, 619 Northwest Tallmadge, Ohio 44278.
