Donald Keith Hayhurst, 67, of Uniontown, passed away May 29, 2015 after fighting a brief and fierce battle with cancer. Don was born in Mullens, West Virginia on May 10, 1948.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, a lifetime member of the Army/Navy 102, and a member of the Airport VFW 8975. Don was a 32nd Degree mason and belonged to the Adoniram-Joppa Lodge 517, the Valley of Akron, and the Knights Templar. He retired from Stauffer Glove and Safety. In his free time, Don loved watching the Green Bay Packers and NASCAR. One of his greatest loves was to play Santa Claus at Christmas parties for over 30 years.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Elma Spurgeon and step-parents, John and Millie Hayhurst. He was a devoted husband for 40 years to his wife, Mona, who will miss him deeply. He is also survived by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Myra and Mike Petty of Seminole, FL; special cousin Donna Rae Davis and her husband, Michael; and his four legged son, Riley.
Visitation will be held Saturday, June 6, 2015 from 2-4 followed by a 4:00 p.m. memorial service with Pastor Larry Baldridge officiating at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Summit County Humane Society.
