Donald Frederick Edwards (Fred)

Fred to all those who knew him. He was called home on Tuesday September 28, 2015 after an extensive battle with lung cancer, heart disease and Alzheimers. His family praises God for taking him swiftly in his worse days. Fred was born in Akron, OH in 1938 and graduated from Kenmore High where he is was active in sports and lettered in Football, worked and retired from Prophet Foods in Goodyear. He married the love of his life, Frances Wiland and raised four children, eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren in the church of Jesus Christ. He served the Lord as a Priest since 1995. He enjoyed gardening and fishing when he wasn't helping others or working at the church. He also was a volunteer to feed the hungry. He had a love of animals and raised his children to respect and love God and his creatures. Fred was known as he was and not a respecter of men but believed all men where created equally and never met a stranger.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Pauline; brother, Richard (Joyce) Edwards. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Frances; children, Mark, Fred (Dolly), Dody (Don), Paul (Jodi); grandchildren, Sara, Jessica (Bryan), Rachelle (Andrew), Matt (Rachel), Sydney, Ashley, Zachary, and Adam; great-grandchildren, Elijah, Marissa, Kelsie and Macey; as well as an extensive church family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Church of Jesus Christ Barberton Restoration Branch in care of Paul Edwards 139 West State Barberton, OH 44203.

Memorial service will be held on Saturday October 3, 2015 at 4pm at Newcomer Funeral Home 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44305. Calling hours will begin at 3 with service immediately following. Pastor Paul Edwards officiating.
