Dennis “Denny” Towsley, 77, of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home July 27, 2026, after a courageous 15-month battle with cancer.
Born on January 29, 1949, to Charles and Ann Towsley he grew up in Akron, Ohio. After graduating from North High School, he worked at the Firestone Tire and Rubber company until he went into the Navy where he proudly served from 1969 to 1971 on the aircraft carrier USS Franklin D Roosevelt as an electrician. After leaving the Navy, he returned to work at Firestone where he retired.
Whether serving his country or providing for his family, he always believed in giving his best and doing what was right.
On July 2, 1977, Denny married the love of his life, Cheryl, and for 49 years they shared a beautiful marriage built on love, laughter, and unwavering commitment to each other. Together they created a home where friends and family were always welcome. It was filled with warmth and countless memories that will be treasured forever.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Towsley, and is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl, son, Kurt (Debbie), grandchildren, Alexis (Kyle), Zac and Mia, great- grandchildren, Aria, Hazel and Zuri, mother, Ann Towsley, brothers Mike (Connie), Wayne, and Jeff. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were made better by knowing him.
One of his greatest joys was baseball. For more than 20 years, he coached youth baseball in Cuyahoga Falls, pouring his heart into every practice and every game. To many, he was more than a coach—he was a mentor, a teacher, and a positive influence whose encouragement and patience helped shape young lives both on and off the field.
He was also a die-hard Cleveland Browns fan and as a season ticket holder for over 30 years he never missed a game either in person or watching from home.
Denny was first and foremost a family man and will be remembered for his gentle heart, quiet strength, quick smile, and willingness to help anyone in need.
His legacy is not only found in the years he lived, but in the countless lives he touched—as a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, veteran, coach, coworker, and friend.
Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that his love, his values, and the memories he gave us will remain with us always. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
Per his wishes, cremation has taken place. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Denny’s life and share memories of a man who gave so much to those around him at a Celebration of Life on Sunday, September 6, 2026, from 2-5 at Northampton Methodist Church, 852 W Bath Rd, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44223.
Military services will be held later.
