Dennis Neil Tennant

Dennis Neil Tennant, 79, of Kent, passed away on June 1, 2019 due to complications from smoking. He was born on May 1, 1940 in Ravenna to the late Pearley and Neva Tennant. Dennis served in the U.S. Army after high school and then spent 31 years as a car hauling truck driver. He was an avid bowler and participated in several leagues. He won many awards and was most proud of his perfect 300 game. He also had fond memories of his fishing trips to Canada with his brothers and he loved to root for the Browns, Indians, and Buckeyes. In addition to his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by his brothers, Keith, Jerry, and Thomas Tennant; his beloved Husky, Becky and his beloved Jack Russell, Dude. Dennis will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 39 years, Cheryl Tennant; children, Neil (Ruth) Tennant, Melody (Billy) Gast, Kathi (Becky) Rhoads, and Matthew Tennant; parents-in-law, Charles and Virginia Neshkoff; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2019 from 12-2 followed by a 2:00 p.m. memorial service at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Dennis will be privately laid to rest at Restland Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Research Hospital, Shriner's Hospital for Children, or the Portage County APL.
